Board Members

Erin Rowland, Board President

 

Erin Rowland is a Waste Reduction Specialist for the Clark County Solid Waste Program in Vancouver, WA.  She works in schools across the county to implement recycling and composting programs.  Erin received a Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon in 2003.  She is currently working on a Masters Degree in Public Administration at Portland State University.  Erin is a member of the ECO team because she firmly supports ECO’s goal of connecting students to their natural environment.  She believes it is an essential aspect to the development of sustainable communities in the Northwest.

 

Michelle Matejka, Board Secretary

 

Michelle Matejka is a Special Education Teacher in the David Douglas School District. She earned her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s in Education at the University of Oregon.  She enjoys camping, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. Michelle volunteers with ECO because she values education and wants to contribute to students learning how to help keep our community and environment healthy.

 

Sarah Bercume, Board Treasurer

Adam Hixon, Board Member

Adam Hixon received his Bachelors degree in Comparative Religion from Lewis & Clark in 2004 and is currently taking classes in non-profit management and conflict resolution at Portland State University. For the last 5 years Adam has worked with the National Outdoor Leadership School teaching leadership skills and natural science courses in the outdoors. Adam supports ECO because he values experiential education and the powerful resources that the natural world and understanding of it brings to education.

Christian Krutsinger, Board Member:  

 

Christian Krutsinger, a native Eastern Oregonian, graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and is currently a Legal Assistant for Iberdrola Renewables, Inc. in Portland, OR.  A friend of Bethany’s from their time at U of O, she was inspired by the mission of ECO and the work Sarah and Bethany do to bring hands-on science education to students–motivating them to stay connected to science and creating great scientific minds of the future.

 

Shannon Webb, Board Member:

 

Shannon Webb earned her Bachelors degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon and went on to earn her Masters in Business Administration from Marylhurst University.  She is the Account Coordinator and Marketing Director for a Northwest distributor of construction and erosion control products.  Shannon volunteers her time with ECO because, as a Portland native, she supports the organizations goal of investing in the education of Portland’s youth and building environmental awareness in future generations.
